New in FLoSC v1.6
To download new version (FLoSC v1.6) Click here.

1. Interface

  • Longer (more informative) names for column titles in the worksheet “Data”
  • Addition of a short description of what the system does/is for/what to do (a new menu item, i.e. “About FLoSC”, is displayed in the menu bar)
  • Default dates
If the user runs a second time FLoSC without closing it in-between, the dates entered the first time are saved and can be used for the second analysis (if the same data period is required).

2. Data

  • A suitable error message is displayed if:
    a. “run flosc” is selected when no data is present in the worksheet “Data”
b There are some empty cells in the dataset range
c Gender, plos and los cells contain invalid values (initially, the message was only appearing for “type of care” and “end reason”)

  • The selection of the dataset is adjusted (initially, the selection of the dataset was limited by the existence of idle cells in the ID column)

3. Results

  • The scale on RC histogram is corrected
  • Doing the basic analysis first before the user embarks on running the fitting procedure. Once the first step (i.e. data analysis) is finished, a warning query is displayed. The user has two options:
a To check the data first and run the second step of FLoSC later (i.e. Forecasting cost and length-of-stay)

    b To continue running FLoSC

**The New Version of FLoSC (v1.6) is compatible with Microsoft Office Excel 2007.

Disclaimer
FLoSC is provided to assist local councils with their planning of social care. It should be noted that the results obtained will be dependent on the completeness, accuracy and validity of the input data. Past patterns of LOS may change as a result of council actions or extraneous factors. Councils will need to make their own judgements on the credibility of the forecasts. Demand can be monitored against the forecast results to detect changes in trends.

Neither the Department of Health nor the University of Westminster can be held liable for any consequential damages resulting directly or indirectly from the use of FLoSC.
