ACQUIRING THE SKILLS EMPLOYERS WANT
Record and reflect on what you have learnt
- Use a learning log to record your experiences and to identify skills
and knowledge acquired. There are several reflective learning packages
available in the Careers Service(link to 4) to help you do this. Employers
always want you to provide examples of skills gained and you will find
this documented evidence very useful when completing graduate
application forms.
- Talk through your experiences with colleagues, fellow students, tutors,
employers and careers advisers to get constructive feedback whenever
you can.
- Evaluate your performance - identify your
skill gaps and decide what you need to do to improve in the future.
This will help you in managing your own career development (link to
