4. Analytic (or Atomistic) vs Global

In this model, there are the following categories:
  • The analytic learners like the step by step learning procedures. They like organization, finishing one thing at a time, knowing what they are expected to do and being prepare for that. They are common sense people, objective, self motivated, and they put the values facts over feelings. During the learning process they find the facts and pay attention to details but they miss the main idea.
    How to learn:
    • By setting the objectives, breaking down the tasks of a problem and put them in time limits. In addition, by creating a schedule, keeping diary of your work, organizing your time, you will always concentrate to the scope of your project without missing the main idea.

  • The global learners are flexible, sensitive to other's people's feelings. They work hard to please the others, and take the criticism personally, so they need reassurance and reinforcement. They have the ability to understand the general idea of a new subject, find other options, see relationships between different topics and do more than one thing at a time. They can cooperate well with other people, since they read the body language.
    How to learn:
    • You are the type of learner who may skip steps and details. Sometimes details are essential for the solving of a problem, so try to research in depth, when needed by looking into more sources.
